KWTV WIZARD 2.1.9 - RESPONSIVE STARTUP
2026-10-20

WHAT CHANGED
- Run a lightweight, local package cleanup before Wizard update verification,
build-feed checks and the Wizard's repository-refresh worker. Home does not
wait for this worker. Existing Auto Clear Packages setting is respected.
- Startup cleanup only considers top-level, version-named package ZIPs whose
modification/change times are at least 24 hours old. Keep recent downloads,
partial files, symlinks, subfolders and build/GUI backup files. Check Kodi's
active download/install queue and use the Wizard's nonblocking install lock.
Defer cleanup when queue information is unavailable or an install is active.
Recheck queue and file identity before deletion; stop on shutdown.
- Limit each pass to 200 directory entries and a two-second work budget,
checked between operations. These limits do not interrupt an OS filesystem
call already in progress. Remaining files can be considered on later starts.
- No poster/thumbnail cache, texture database, addon data, authorizations,
favourites or user configuration is automatically cleared.
- Remove recursive package, thumbnail and whole-build size scans from module
imports. Calculate sizes only when the Maintenance screen is opened.
- Remove build-feed requests from module imports. Main Menu uses session-local
metadata populated by the background build check (one-hour expiry); show a
plain Build Menu label before metadata is available. Explicit build-update
selection refreshes details before offering an installation.
- Defer the optional repository-last-check database label until Tools opens;
use a short DB timeout and tolerate missing/locked databases.
- Small feeds, notifications and changelogs use an eight-second socket timeout,
a 15-second read budget checked between chunks, and a 4 MiB response limit.
An in-flight socket operation can finish after that budget; DNS/system delays
are OS-controlled. Optional build-size HEAD requests time out after eight
seconds and retain the feed's size if unavailable.
- A failed background notification request no longer skips the build check.
Wizard updater integrity checks and restart requirements remain in force.

INSTALL / CHECK
Install plugin.program.thekwtvwizard-2.1.9.zip, then fully close and reopen Kodi.
Keep Auto Clear Packages enabled to use automatic startup cleanup. Do not use
Clear All merely to activate this fix: that manual action also deletes artwork.
Try Home menu/submenu and widget navigation immediately after launch. Check
again with networking unavailable. Posters should retain their existing cache;
remote addons still control how quickly fresh widget lists and images arrive.
This update removes identified startup work, but cannot guarantee that every
navigation/loading symptom is caused by the Wizard or is resolved on-device.

REPOSITORY
KWTV Estuary 0.1.0, Showcase 0.1.23 and IPTV 3.5.0 are unchanged.
The intervening Wizard 2.1.8 Estuary selection/skin-guard changes are preserved. Skin label cosmetics are
pending the user's requested labels/casing. This is not a newly integrated
build ZIP. The existing build-feed body and build download remain unchanged.
Wizard retained ZIPs: 2.1.7, 2.1.8, 2.1.9. All historical changelogs are retained.

VALIDATION
48 automated tests passed: 16 startup-performance/safety tests, 17 existing
build-aware startup/install and Estuary selection tests, and 15 skin-update popup regressions. Tests
use Kodi stubs and temporary files, including an import/open of the real Wizard
router with network calls, recursive scans and database connections rejected.
Source syntax/XML, ZIP CRCs, repository index/manifests/checksum, feed hash,
three-version retention and unchanged-addon checks are validated by packaging.
No live Kodi timing, remote-control navigation or server deployment is claimed.
